Officers' Robes

Each University officer wears a black gown with distinctive trimming or ornamentation. Caps are of the square mortarboard pattern and are made of black velvet.

The Chancellor : black satin brocade gown with facings and cape collar edged with gold lace. The robe is trimmed with gold embroidered ornaments including a Welsh dragon at the top of both sleeves. The sleeve cuts and wings are also trimmed with gold ornaments. The cap is edged with gold patterned lace and has a large gold bullion button and gold tassel.

The Pro-Chancellor : black ottoman silk robe with facings and cape collar of dark maroon moire silk. Front facings and cape collar edged with gold oakleaflace. Sleeve cuts and wings edged with gold oakleaf lace. Sleeve wings trimmed with gold ornaments. The cap is edged with gold oakleaf lace and has a large gold bullion button and gold tassel.

The Vice-Chancellor : black silk robe. Front facings and cape collar edged with silver oakleaf lace. Sleeve cuts and wings edged with silver oakleaf lace. Sleeve wings trimmed with silver ornaments. The cap is edged with silver oakleaf lace and has a large silver bullion button and silver tassel.
