This month from University of Wales Press sees the publication of Cranogwen by Jane Aaron. In this volume we follow Cranogwen, Sarah Jane Rees (1893-1916) of Llangrannog. She was a poet, lecturer, editor, preacher and temperance woman who inspired a new generation of female authors and public figures.

Also, UWP is to publish the next volume in the Scientists of Wales series, Griffith Davies by Haydn E. Edwards, which discusses the life and work of the mathematician and actuary Griffith Davies. The book describes his education and work and the social and economic background of the time. Attention is paid to the substantial contribution made by Griffith Davies to education, the rights of his fellow-Welshmen and the complex process of establishing the base for his profession as an actuary.
